We are now in Memphis, TN. Camped in TO Fuller state park. Under a pecan tree. Every time the wind blows we get bombarded with pecans. We went out to go to the low point in Tennessee. After much driving we determined that it is on private land. We even had a couple of red neck good ole boys pull up beside us in their pickup on the road and tell us in no uncertain terms that we were not going down there. So we went to where it was legal and it was forest with thick underbrush, poison ivy, snakes etc. John went to it , I waited in the car to fend off any good ole boys who might show up.
Welcome to Tennessee, bus under the pecan tree
Horn lake with cypress trees , John heading into the underbrush to the low point
the horned serpents, logo for the Chucalissa, the early Mississippian Indians settlement shown in the next photo. all that is left is the mounds and there is a museum there too with artifacts the archeologists found
Full moon setting, Welcome the Graceland, home of Elvis Presley.
Elvis’s mansion. John was going to by pass Memphis completely, but I was not going to drive by Graceland. John complained that he didn’t even want to go. I am surprised he was not lynched by some of the ladies there paying their respects to Elvis. The mansion living room. They had good taste for stained glass there.
stained glass in the entry way and the jungle room. Elvis chose the decorations for it, shag carpet on the floor and ceiling, fur on the seats, a waterfall on the far wall. Very 60’s.
Elvis outfits, his gold and platinum albums
the memory garden, his family’s graveyard. The Elvis automobile museum
Elvis bling in the gift shop. Elvis lipstick, monopoly game, license plate, Mr. potato head, salt and pepper shakers, pendulum clock, the legs swing underneath it.
Last by not least below the Heart Break Hotel, campground and RV park. We could have stayed at Graceland!! There was a heart shaped pool, with a zigzag line down the middle-broken heart pool. An all Elvis cable TV channel and and all Elvis sirus radio station.
