We left Death Valley and went to Shoshone again. This is a view of the mountains east of Shoshone in the late afternoon. I shellaced the basket and it is now done.

White flowers, budding cactus and a red and black bug seen while hiking. The next day after a massage in Tecopa the light and clouds were really nice.

Clouds and light east of Shoshone. I ordered some side sun screens for the two front windows that are not mirrored to match the front sun screen. They are basically the continuation of the edge of the cat face.

Leaving Shoshone we went through Pahrump, Nevada and filled up on cheap Nevada gas. $1.89 a gallon for diesel.  A few signs in Pahrump. The top one, obcured by the intersection sign is for the Chicken Ranch. It is a brothel you can get free tours. The bottom one is also for a brothel. You can get cat house souvenirs there.  Free tours and souvenirs from a brothel? Sounds kind of scarey to me.  We are currently parked at the Oasis RV park in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is pretty expensive so we have one of the cheap spots with no grass or picnic table. Nice park, full hook ups.

Love the pool here at the Oasis. This is the adult pool. They also have a ‘family pool’ which had a lot more people in it.  Spent an afternoon here in the sun before we left. We are here in Las Vegas so I could go to the Glass Craft and Bead Expo. It is a huge  national show.  Lots of really good classes. Expensive and filled up really fast classes. I didn’t take any, I figured since it will be months before I am back in my glass studio it would just tease me.  I saw some good free demos though.

This is the exhibit hall of the glass expo. The first photo is the Gallery of Excellence. Lots of beautiful glass pieces. The second photo is part of the exhibitors.  Every glass product and piece of equipment on  display here. The manufactures, equipment companies. It was pretty impressive. I was overwhelmed.  I only bought some beads for my baskets. The prices of glass and equipment are cheaper where I can buy them wholesale in Denver. But I got to see a lot of the new things that are available.

This piece of glass is a five layer piece with sandblasted and enameled pieces sandwiched inside. I watched a demo and got some good info at the Rayzist booth on how to do photos on glass. I am excited to try it. I also watched a demo of using precious metal clay that you can fire in your kiln around pieces of glass or alone. I can’t wait to get to my studio in Colorado now. . . The other photo is of some of the brochures of things you can do in Vegas. Seems to be a number of places you can shoot zombies. . . The glass show is at South Point Casino. We had a coupon for $20 free slot plays. I used the free $20 and won $17. Not bad, I didn’t use any of my own money, so I didn’t loose anything.

The light shining from the top of the Luxor casino into space. We left Vegas today and headed south. We stopped in Cal Nev Ari, Nevada  to buy propane and check out the RV park there. Not bad, cheap and has some trees. The propane place was closed and we drove on to Bullhead City.

Laughlin, Nevada  and Bullhead City, Arizona on the other side of the Colorado River. We are camped on the beach of the Colorado River. High 80’s or 90’s, but not bad because you can dip in the river any time you are too hot. Had little excitement we saw a jet ski hit a boat. No one was hurt, lots of yelling. Hopefully the jet ski traffic will slow down that the weekend is over. Don’t camp in this campground on the weekend, lots of people partying.  Guess we thought the weekend people would be gone on Sunday afternoon, but they didn’t leave till dusk.

Sunset from our site. Northern lights over Laughlin!! Well a  shakey photo of the lights of the casinos in Laughlin just down and across river from where we are.

Finished up this basket with a turtle bead on the bottom and a frog on on top. Came out very cute.
