February 28- March 3 2017 Organ Pipe to Tonopah, Arizona to Blythe, California

Rainy day. I took my Desert Ranger (for the not so junior Ranger) workbook over to the visitors center and got my Desert Ranger patch! A shot of the Ajo range on our last night. Beautiful park.

On the way back out of town we drove through 2 border patrol stations and we got waved through both. We could have packed the back of the bus with immigrints and  drugs, or been terrorists. We must not look the type.  We stopped in Why, Arizona because John wanted to find out what this pyramid was. We stopped at the Rocky point sea food market to ask. It ends up that this builder and his brother were going to build one. The brother passed away so the guy decided to build it anyway. It is pretty cool, has a pointed sky light on top. It will be plumbed etc and eventually be a rental. John also got a pound of rocky point shrimp and BBQ’d them for dinner tonight.  Very good.
In Gila Bend we stopped at the Space age restaurant at the Space Age lodge.  This is the flying saucer on the office and some exerpts from the menu.

It was kind of cool inside in a retro kind of way. The service was terrible, we waited over 30 minutes from when we ordered our burger and french dip till we got our food and it was real bland and greasy. Don’t recommend the place.  We are once again parked at the Saddle Back RV park in Tonapah, Arizona. We are going to shop and resupply and head back into the desert.
I finished another one of the little baskets with the beads I wove.  Sunset over the Saddle Back park.

I also started this basket today with another piece of glass I made in the center. It is three pendants that didn’t sell, so I set them in epoxy resin. They look really good in the basket. And further along.

Beans are the vegetables we Love to eat! This tiki head is carved out of a palm tree trunk. On top are the roots. The Bus at the Hidden Beach RV park just outside of Blythe, California.

John overlooking the boat launch on the Colorado River at the Hidden Beach RV park. Sunset on the river.
