September 16, 2017 Badlands, South Dakota

We drove the scenic loop today in Badlands. It was still cloudy, but not raining. We had intermittent sun.

The colors were lovely. A sunflower, a friendly bird and a couple female mountain sheep with their kids.

This yellow mounds layer is where they found many of the fossils that are here. It is really pretty.

The ground looked pretty dry today, until I stepped off the asphalt. No hiking today. Instead we went to Wall Drug. Here are some of the signs on the way to Wall Drug.
Wall Drug itself was pretty disappointing. It was a big tourist mall. As was across the street.  But we can say we have been there.

John had fun, he kept picking up sweeties. I rode the Jackalope.

The T-rex at Wall drug, it says beware it needs to eat every three hours, poker game in the saloon, a datura flower blooming at the campground and the Wall Drug 80 foot dinosaur.  The teepee is for rent in the campground-you can camp in it.
Sunset on the Badlands tonight.
