We hiked the trails in the campground today. It is very thick maritime forest. Almost jungle like in places with vines.
One of the swampy areas and there is no bushwacking here, vines and tangled trees.
John on the boardwalk over another swampy area. Heart shaped leaves, red berries, ivy growing up a tree, a sign where the forest and beach meet, telling us A setting sun whispers a promise of tomorrow, and a cockle shell on the beach.
Oak trees in the picnic area. After the trails I walked the beach. The waves are bigger today, here is a guy on his stand up paddle board.
We are a state park with beach and forest. The rest of Myrtle beach has all these highrise hotels. Really touristy beach destination. Tons of golf courses, 50 miniature golf courses, water parks, beach ware stores, restaurants, music venues. Really not our kind of place. The park is a nice refuge in all of that. The sign says' I go to nature to be soothed and healed. And to have my senses put in order. Turn off you electronics for at least 30 minutes- including your phone. Do you fell more relaxed?", azaleas blossoms , a sign requesting equestrian Please help keep our park clean, with a big shovel. They allow horseback riding on the beach here. Gaillardia and honey suckles blooms.
The bus at our site in a pine forest. I was hoping to get some good sunset photos since there were wispy clouds all day, even these puffy clouds dissipated before sunset. Beautiful walk anyway.
I took a trail off the beach to see where it went. It goes to the cabins in the park. Very nice rentals. 2-4 bedrooms renting for $65-250 a night depending on the size and season. What a deal. Looks like they were built by the CCC too. Some wildlife we saw on our walk today. A cannon ball jelly fish and a HUGE bug sunning on the bus tire.
An example of some of the bling on the the main street here. King Kong on a high rise building. There were some cool kind of clouds in the sky today. 61 again and partly cloudy. So once again I walked the beach at sunset hoping for some dramatic pink clouds, but the sun dropped below the clouds and this was it. The beach was still lovely tho.
I got my new blog book today. It is the white one on the right. I print these blogs up as scrap books of our travels. This new one is the 19th volume in 7 years. I love looking back through them. It is also great reference of when we were where and where we stayed. I always take a photo of the bus at each new place for reference. On the front of these is a photo of the bus somewhere scenic and on the back is a photo of us somewhere scenic.
