We drove straight toward this fire, than at the last minute the road turned away. It was a field burning, all under control, but looked huge. The bus parked at our spot at the Whispering Palms resort. The highway is on one side and railroad tracks on the other. We are here two night but have to change spots tomorrow to stay here.
The pool where I hung out for an hour or two this afternoon. The riverside park to the east of us. Not sure what river, but I think the Atlantic ocean is there too.
John found a brewery close by. We tasted and had dinner on the patio to watch the sunset. It rained so we had a rainbow during sunset to entertain us while we were eating.
Then the clouds cleared a bit for some sunset. When we got back to the resort we discovered there are street lamps in the middle of each site, strategically located to shine in each bedroom window. When we drove in some guy was helping us park the bus, I thought he worked here. He pulled up the stake and directed John to drive right over the sewer hookup breaking the cap. Of course then the guy disappeared. Guess he didn't work here. John bought a new cap and it is all fixed.
We came here to visit my friend Toni who I used to work with at Kaiser and her husband Bill. Here they are in our living room. After they visited us they took us out to lunch, then visited their lovely home and they gave us a tour of the area. Here I am with Toni at Round Island riverside park.
We walked out on the jetty at Sebastian inlet park. Lots of people fishing. Be Careful lightening could strike at any minuted and don't feed the wild dolphins. A snowy egret at the inlet, storks flying over head at sunset and treasures Toni gave me that she found on the beach to use in baskets. Mostly seeds from South America that washed up and a pretty shell. People fishing on the jetty.
Surfers at Sebastian inlet and sunset over the lake at the RV park.
We had another long day of driving. No brushes with death today, only one idiot passed us on the right and almost got smashed by us when the lane ended. The bus at Silver Springs RV park, in Silver Springs. Behind the white fence behind us is the highway. Reasonable site, picnic table and a couple palm trees. We got a deal here, only $99 for a week. We are finally away from the high priced, crowded touristy area down south on the beach. But we are looking forward to going back to state parks and real campgrounds where we have more space and less lights and highways. Across the street is the Silver Springs, really pretty spring. We are going to boat the spring run tomorrow. Sunset tonight. There are lots of wires around us here.
