February 18-21,2020 Death Valley, California

We drove into Pahrump to resupply and  fuel up. Pahrump on the lower horizon and snow covered Mt Charleston above.  Sunset on the mountains by the road on the way to Death Valley.

Sunset on the mountains by the road on the way to Death Valley. Looking into Death Valley at sunset. Zabriski point on the left , the back side of the Red Cathedral in the middle and the Panamint mountains on the other side of Death Valley.

Sunset from the campground. John cleaning the solar panels in the Sunset campground in Death Valley. No hook ups here.

We spent the day relaxing around the campground. Sunset tonight from the campground.

We backpacked in to spend the night with the Judy's. John hiking by the Amargosa River. John hiking in and Judy in her tent.

John brought in some beer for happy hour. Evening light on the playa- dry lake bed we are camped on.

Curly wood, busy ants, coyotes dug these holes to find water. Judy and Judy left before dawn on their hike. I got up just in time to catch them across the playa.  They are the dots.

Sunrise. Our tent in sunrise. I even got up before John today. Poor John his air mattress went flat in the night. He says he bruised his hips. My poor old sleeping bag is very old and leaking down. I burnt holes in it so long ago I can't even remember how. It may have had something to do with laying down a hot popped jiffy pop on my bag.

The playa or dry lake bed in the morning. The sunrise highlighted this sand dune across the valley that I couldn't see in full light.

This femur bone was stuck in straight up on top of a hill near camp. A selfie of John and I with our backpacks on our way out.

Windblown sand on the surrounding mountains. Reflection on the Amargosa river.
