February 23-25, 2024 Shoshone, California

 70 degrees and party cloudy.

We worked another day volunteer planting along the Springbrook project. John running a post hole digger.

Judy and James cutting back cattails. I also cut a few, but knelt  into the water and hacked. Much easier than bending over.  Sunset.

Full Snow moon rising. Sunset toward Tecopa

We were rewarded dinner at the Crowbar for our volunteer work tonight. It was a big crew. John and Susan at Dinner.

I hiked the white trail in flowers today with Judy and James. Texas cranes bill with crypantha, hairy prairie clover, 1/2 inch tall mushroom called tulosforma or a stalked puff ball, desert stars, plantain flower, plantain plant and desert 5 spot.

In the afternoon we went to a talk at the museum by Brain Brown about his experience with underground mining in the 70's. Very interesting. I finished this basket. It was started by my friend Susan in a basket class I was teaching, she gave it back to me to finish. It is made from natural and dyed pine needles, polyester thread and the beads came from a broken necklace I picked up at the flea market last weekend. 5 x 3 1/2 inches.

The beginning of sunset to the east and the finale of sunset to the west.

Waterfall on the blue trail. Cool mud on the celery trail.

Dried mud puddle. This crossing was very deep mud.

Sunset.
