Laughlin, Nevada Feb 28-March 4 2011

We loaded up and headed for Laughlin, Nev. We are parked in the Riverside Casino RV park. 740 spaces and all full.  We only meant to stay a day or two. John wanted to go the lowest spot in Nevada and it is near here on the Colorado River at the bottom of the state in the three corners area-NV/Cal/Ariz. It is warm, in the 70’s and sunny.  The surrounding area is really cool desert, with really nice peaks in the mountains. We hiked up Grapevine canyon first. It has some of the biggest petroglyph panels around. And I am a petroglyphphile. I put them in a lot of my glass art. The petroglyphs were awesome. Huge panels. Different than the ones in Utah that I had seen before.  It was a beautiful canyon also. Nice narrows.  It ended in a beautiful waterfall and pools. It is in the rugged Spirit Mountains. Did I mention it was warm? 70’s, shorts?

Sorry I got carried away with the petroglyph photos, but they were awesome!

The next day we walked on the river walk along the river by the casinos. Not that impressive, but it was a nice warm day by the river. We went to the classic car show at the Riverside Casino. We loaded up to leave on Thursday and the bus would not start. Dead battery. So a new battery is on order and we are hanging out.

Interesting sunset photos.John thinking, my first basket in cool light and  Me in the RV park.

Today we went to Oatman, AZ. It is a ghost town in these really cool volcanic mountains. They film movies there. They have wild burros wondering the streets, mostly begging for food. That said, it is a cute town, but a lame tourist attraction with shops, curios and restaurants and gallery's and crowds of people.  They even had a gun fight. There was a nice glass shop, called the Glass Ass. I visited with the artist. She bought some of my jewels. After that we drove to the river to the lowest spot and John got  a photo of his GPS with the low elevations and I got a photo of him.
