May 5, 2010 South Antelope Canyon, Navaho Reservation, Arizona

We toured South Antelope Canyon. It is on the Navaho Reservation. We are camped at WahWeap still on Lake Powell, it is daylight savings time, Page, across the Damn is Arizona, they don’t do daylight savings time, and the Navaho reservation, I am not even sure what their time is.  Forget trying to remember what the time is. We had to hire a Navaho guide. We had toured North Antelope canyon before, but it was much shorter. The south was fabulous. The photos to not do it justice. We arrived at the crack  in the rock below, didn’t look like there was anyway we would fit down there. Sue on the entrance stairs below.  The canyon got deeper until  it was maybe 50-100 feet deep and very narrow. The light inside was unbelievable. Years ago a group of Germans drowned in here in a flash flood.  They now have lots of escape rope ladders and an early warning system. I have John in may of the photos so you can see how big it really is. Some of these photos are up. Probably can’t tell which ones thought.
