Busy warm summer days.
Flowers from the bike path from my morning ride. We had dinner with Bill and Karen at El Monte in Fort Collins Tuesday night. Good company and fabulous food. Wednesday I drove to Denver and Katy and I had dinner with Jim and Wes in Boulder –sorry I forgot to take a photo. It was good to see them and their newly remodeled house.
Thursday Katy, Katie and I drove to Canon City to raft on the Arkansas river with our friend Dennis who owns Raftmasters. The river was VERY high. We went on the ‘family’ run in Big Horn Canyon. It is the least wild run on the river, but at such high water it was still HUGE class III and IV rapids. We had a blast. Suep, Katy, Dennis and Katie. The young ladies at the front desk told us that Dennis very rarely guides on the river anymore, only for special people and we were very special. We have known Dennis for along time, he is a pretty special guy too.
The wave was so high that coming over the top you can not even see Dennis and I. Dennis is such a great guide the ride was not scary at all. He told us when to paddle, and told the other guides that he had three women doing his bidding.
I am pretty sure that I am swearing in this photo, I always do that approaching gigantic waves . In water this big I am much happier to be in a raft than in my little kayak. Here we are after the run, soaking wet. Suep, Dennis, Katie, and Katy.
And we clean up pretty well too. We are all wearing our Raftmaster shirts. We took Dennis out to dinner at the historic Owl Cafe in downtown Canon City.
There was nice light on the drive back to Denver. Friday morning I had coffee with Barb Flowers. In another life she was my mother in law. We decided to stay related, even thought her son is no longer in my life. She is a very sweet and special lady. This is us in front of the pie case at Perkins.
After I got back to Fort Collins John and I moved our mattress from the other motor home into the new one and I made it up. The bus is looking like home. Next Sunday we are going to drive the bus out to Oregon Motor Coach in Oregon for some work on the house part of the bus. They are the people who built the bus and they do the best job. The slide is not extended in this photo, when it is there is another 2 feet of width in the bedroom. We stopped at Mandy and John’s house to socialize and have a Mandy made, fresh out of the oven croissant. Yum yum. Claire and John just returned from boating some very scary stuff on the Poudre river. There was so many cotton wood seeds in the the air it was like it was snowing. Mandy, Claire, John and John.
There was about 4-6 inches of cotton wood cotton on the ground. Our last stop on the way back was to visit with Jeff and Holger at the Blind Pig in Old Town.
