November 13-15, 2018 Cape Blanco, Oregon

We moved south today about 60 miles to Cape Blanco State Park. We scored one of the lighthouse hosts places since they are gone. Great view, full hookups with sewer, same price. In the 50's, mostly sunny, smokey and no wind.

There was a lot of smoke in the air today. It was from slash pile burns. We walked the beach at Cape Blanco this afternoon. Very pretty, nice cliffs.

Interesting clouds. John heading down the beach.

Kelp snake, two huge tree stumps on the beach. The top one has the sun shining into it and a seagull in the sun. The sun turned red, not sure if it was because of the fog or the smoke.

John heading back. Sunset.

More sunset. Wildlife in our campsite. Last night on the way to the showers we saw a doe, fawn and buck deer too. They have sighted bears here.

John snagged us this Lighthouse host campsite at Cape Blanco State Park. The lighthouse is closed for the season, so no hosts and they rent the sites. Large site, with sewer hookup. Most sites here do not have sewer and the dump station is broken. Lots of sunshine here. Across the street through some trees is the cliff above the ocean. The road by us goes only to the beach.  Sunset above the cliff over the ocean tonight.

Cat's and John came by from Port Orford tonight for dinner. John cooked and entertained. Good to see them. We hiked out to the lighthouse this afternoon. The waist to chest deep foliage was bright red and green. There were wisps of clouds racing by above us. The wind was blowing at 20 mph with gust to 30.

Looking north from the lighthouse. Looking north from the lighthouse. The lighthouse is closed for the season. We toured it once many years ago, must have been here earlier in the year.

Looking south on the way back.  The light in the mossy trees was pretty.

You can't even see John with his camo coat in this greenery. Walking down to see sunset from our campsite.

I watched sunset from a bench on the cliff. The new moon is in the left corner over sunset.
The latest bear sighting in this campground was 2 days ago!
