November 19, 2023 Cape Perpetua, Oregon

53 and mostly sunny, with a few rain showers.

The view from camp to the ocean this morning. We went to the Sea Lion Caves, but the sea lions are mostly only there December through January, so we didn't go down. But this painted sea lion and totem pole were out front. The warning was later at Cape Perpetua. And a poem about an ocean in the forest about the temperate rain forest.

As any times as we have stopped at Cape Perpetua it still fascinates me. the waves are intense.  Thor's well. It fills when a wave hits below the cliff, then drains back out.

Cook's chasm is amazing, the big waves make this crazy foam. Cape Perpetua.

The ocean is so wild here it creates wild foam. John is up front and personal with the waves at the Spouting horn.

Boiling foam. Waves and the spouting horn.

More crazy sea foam.

More waves and sea foam.

I probably took 500 photos of the wild sea foam. You are only being subjected to a few. . .

We hiked Cook's trail around to the Devil's Churn. The huge waves churn up chaotic, creamy foam in the Devil's Churn.

Creamy foam in the Devil's Churn. Big wave break.

The trail back toward Cook's Chasm and the car.

Looking west at huge waves. Looking east at the same big waves - well not the same waves, the same place, different waves.

Hecata Head Lighthouse in the distance- the most photographed light house. Mist on the coast.

Seal gulls at the bottom of the cliff. I could hear all these sea lions, but need the binoculars and  telephoto lens to see them on this secluded beach below the cliffs. This is part of them.

On the way home we stopped at Jerry's Place, Home of the What'cha Brewery. But they are not  brewing  yet. Sunset from camp.
