November 2, 2023 Hoh Rain Forest, Olympic National Park, Washington

High of 58, cloudy and rainy.

There was a horrendous storm last night. Wind gusts t0ver 40 mph and inches of rain. The bus was rocking. Flock of seagulls in the mist this morning. The seas were WILD.

Herd of Roosevelt elk in the Hoh rainforest. The Hoh rainforest gets an average of 14 feet of rain a year. It is famous for the moss.  Moss and fall leaves on the stream.

John with a big leaf maple leaf. 3 foot drapery of moss.

John and I with moss. John with the roots of a fallen giant tree. See all the young trees now growing on top of it.

3 feet of hanging moss decorated with big leaf maple leaves. Yet more moss.

John on the trail with moss and fall leaves. The beginning of the Hall of Mosses trail. It is unbelievable.

Hall of Mosses trail.

Huge trees with 3 foot moss draperies on the branches.

Moss and fall leaves. Elk on the airport runways in Forks on our way back. We had dinner in Forks.
