High of 52m sunny and windy,
Welcome to Walnut Ridge We visited the Wings of Honor museum. It was the site of a piolet training program for WWII. The museum was about the pilot training and the war itself.
The lady in the front said I should see the woman in WWII exhibit. Here are some recruiting posters for women during the war. My favorite were these two. Good work sister, we never figured you could do a man sized job. American woman have met the test! and one showing women how to dress for feminine safety. Instructions for the working women in WWII.
After the museum we visited Beatles park. The Beatles changed planes here in 1967, so the town has memorialized them. We are walking with the Beatles silhouettes. The Yellow Submarine. They named the street Abby road.
Next we went to the Guitar walk. It is along hwy 67 which is called the Rock and Roll Highway because so many musicians from the area drove on it to perform in the area. John on the Guitar walk. Here are the musicians honored around the Guitar walk.
Our last stop was the Powhatan Historic State Park. There were a number of historic buildings from the town. These are bridge pylons. The bridge was a scary wooden swinging bridge. It was built this high so the steam boats could go under it.
Reflections in camp and sunset.
55 and sunny. We went for a walk on the White Oak trail today.
A committee of black vultures.
Sunset on the lake here in camp. Sunset the following night.
