56 and rainy.
We checked out the University of Illinois today, Chemistry annex, art at the Kannert Museum- most of the are was a little bizarre, a synthetic hair sculpture, paddling in a corn field from the visitors guide for Champaign Urbana, the team is the Fighting Illini and a sculpture on campus. Some more art from the Kannart Museum, a pair of waders with a ceramic bowl on top full of water called Body fluids, a pile of stuffed clothing in a corner, the university seal, another synthetic hair sculpture, sculpture from bike parts.
They were having an improv concert at the art museum. Musicians strolled around playing instruments. Some interesting instruments I had never seen before. It was really high pitched and discordant. We left because it was like fingernails on a chalk board. State Farm center on the university campus.
The student union building on the quad. An auditorium in the center of the quad.
The observatory. The Morrow plots are America's oldest experimental fields.
The McFarland Carillon and the other end of the quad. John checking out the eternal flame that was donated by the class of 1921. Itis not really a flame, just an electric light. Campus myth has it if you kiss under the flame you will have eternal bliss with your partner. Of course we kissed.
Building on the campus. Methodist church in downtown Champaign.
Mural in Champaign. Beautiful, historic downtown Champaign.
We went to the Riggs brewery. They make lagers and John likes IPA's. He had an Oktoberfest that he was not crazy about. I tasted the corn wine, that was very good. This glass show just opened at the Curtis Center in Greenwood Village. That is my turtle basket on this flyer!
The bus parked at Judy's house. John and Judy at the beginning of the trail at Busey woods.
Busey Woods. John and Judy ahead of me on the trail.
Busey Woods.
Busey Woods. A deer on the trail. Judy and John on the boardwalk in Busey woods.
In every walk with nature, one receives more than he seeks. John Muir. We ordered Chinese food for dinner.
