My angel John! He is standing  with the Take it Easy wings commemorating the Eagles, they are the group who made the song famous. John is Wanted.

Two of the corners near the Standing on the corner have Standing on the Corner/ Route 66 gift shops, Relic road Brewing, who don't brew any beer, just sell other peoples, Navajo for Every breath is sacred and my favorite, Happy's Senior Center, mural in town, a couple more Route 66 things, a decoration on a wall and my black bean/ corn chowder soup at the Turquoise Room.  John walking up to La Posada. Built in 1930,  La Posada is one of the last great railroad hotels and known for one of the fanciest on Route 66.

We had lunch at the Turquoise Room at La Posada. We did not dress the same on purpose. Delicious lunch. The Turquoise Room at La Posada.

Part of the lobby of La Posada. John and I playing the guitar while standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.

We are staying at Homolovi State Park so we went to the Homolovi ruins. Homolovi II was at one time  a 1200 room pueblo that housed 750 to 1000 people, had three plazas and possibly 40 kiva's. Parts of it were three stories tall. Most of it is not excavated, only these few rooms and this kiva. There are pot sherds all over the place.

The rest of the ruin looks like this, a giant pile of rocks. Homolovi I was by the Little Colorado River and most of it got washed away in a flood. It has mostly not been excavated either. There were five large pueblos in the park.

Sunset over the campground.

Wild burros in Homolovi State Park outside Winslow, Arizona. I finished this masterpiece on the drive today. It is made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread, glass, blue magnetite and metal beads. The center is a piece of selenite that I sandblasted, then painted petroglyphs on. It is 11 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 2 inches. I love the colors in this one.  Sunset from camp.

October 26-27 , 2025 Valles Caldera National preserve to Bernalillo, New Mexico

 68 and sunny.

Welcome to Valles Caldera. Valles Grande is a huge meadow in the middle of the caldera. When the volcano erupted it blew out tons of magma. The the huge magma chamber emptied and the land above collapsed in to the vacant magma chamber. They say there is a herd of about 1,000 elk in here. The valley is hard to photograph because it is so big.

Cerro La Jara is a rounded wooded hill from a smaller eruption into the caldera. One of the historic cabins at the edge of the meadow.

Views on our drive into the caldera.

Coming out of the trees into the big meadow. A historic building with a corral.

More historic cabins and the visitor's center. There was a herd of about 200 head of elk in the valley. The inset at the bottom is a sort of closer up of the elk.

This whole area is deep canyons and mesas. The aspen are golden on the mesa tops.

Aspens. Sunset.

Sunset. Asters, senecio, a statue of a CCC worker. CCC built the road into Frijoles canyon. Of course the road is closed due to the shutdown, so we didn't travel on it, the setting moon in sunset.

Cottonwoods are still blazing.  We fueled up at $3.39

The bus the Coronado RV Park, in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Sunset.
