73 and sunny.
We headed into Winslow, Arizona today. John standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona with Jackson Browne. Jackson and Glen Frey from the Eagles co wrote the song. Neither of them have ever been to Winslow.
My angel John! He is standing with the Take it Easy wings commemorating the Eagles, they are the group who made the song famous. John is Wanted.
Two of the corners near the Standing on the corner have Standing on the Corner/ Route 66 gift shops, Relic road Brewing, who don't brew any beer, just sell other peoples, Navajo for Every breath is sacred and my favorite, Happy's Senior Center, mural in town, a couple more Route 66 things, a decoration on a wall and my black bean/ corn chowder soup at the Turquoise Room. John walking up to La Posada. Built in 1930, La Posada is one of the last great railroad hotels and known for one of the fanciest on Route 66.
We had lunch at the Turquoise Room at La Posada. We did not dress the same on purpose. Delicious lunch. The Turquoise Room at La Posada.
Part of the lobby of La Posada. John and I playing the guitar while standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.
We are staying at Homolovi State Park so we went to the Homolovi ruins. Homolovi II was at one time a 1200 room pueblo that housed 750 to 1000 people, had three plazas and possibly 40 kiva's. Parts of it were three stories tall. Most of it is not excavated, only these few rooms and this kiva. There are pot sherds all over the place.
The rest of the ruin looks like this, a giant pile of rocks. Homolovi I was by the Little Colorado River and most of it got washed away in a flood. It has mostly not been excavated either. There were five large pueblos in the park.
Sunset over the campground.
