We are going to fly round trip from Fort Lauderdale to Death Valley tomorrow. Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America and the Yachting capital of the world. There are 300 miles of canals in Fort Lauderdale.
We took a boat tour of the million dollar houses and yachts. The tour boat is in the middle photo. From the tour boat looking east down the canal the small boat is a water taxi, there are tons of them.
One of the ‘streets’ among the million dollar houses and a house on a corner lot. Most of these homes are vacation homes and used only a couple weeks a year.
The huge yacht belongs to Steven Spielberg. It is the largest yacht in town today. It cost $200 million. This is a view of the Atlantic ocean past these beach houses.
A row of huge yachts. Johnny Depp’s yacht is getting the wood redone.
Another ‘road’ in the million dollar houses. Looking toward downtown Fort Lauderdale. Last trip to Florida we completely drove around this part of Florida, it is packed, solid people. Apparently they have beautiful weather here year round. The ocean breeze keeps it in the 80’ in the heat of summer and winters are very mild.
John with a giant shark. The river walk is along the New river . We walked it end to end.
The manatees live in the canals and of shore in this area. This is a shot of a coconut palm. 150 people a year get killed by falling coconuts in the world.
Flowers seen along the river walk. The thorny thing is a tree trunk.
