The lake here at Gold Head state park with an egret. The beware of gators sign. I like the don't swim with alligators. They make is sound almost like swimming with the dolphins.
Evening light on the oaks. Some kind of mound forming lichen or moss. They are as big as golf balls and bigger.
I put the finishing touches on these baskets today. The first one is 8 x 2 inches. The center is an agate with copper seedbeads, orange glass beads and gold/copper painted clear glass beads. The second one is 31/2 x 1 1/4 with a tiny shell in the center. It has palm inflorescences in the middle and top, with two colors of pine needles. These little ones take almost as long as the bigger ones to make.
This is what I am working on now. It has a little frog on a lily pad in the middle.
Progressing through Florida on our way to the Everglades and warmer. The Citrus tower in Clermont, Florida is 226 feet tall. Built in 1956 to allow visitors to observe the miles of surrounding orange groves, it was once among the most famous landmarks of the Orlando area. Now it is in the center to the Citrus tower mall and the view is suburban sprawl. The bus at Oak Harbor RV park south west of Orlando, in the citrus orchard area. It is a commercial park, small sites. lots of units. We did luck out and get a picnic table. It is one of the nicer commercial RV parks since it is on a lake and has a bunch of large oak trees. The people are really nice and it is quiet. $60 a night, three times what we pay for park campsites. I have been spoiled by the parks, don't really like commercial resorts.
A view of Lake Lowery from shore and a view of the park from the end of the dock. The harbor of Oak Harbor.
This huge alligator skin is over the office at Oak Harbor. Sunset over the harbor and Lake Lowery.
4 hours of driving today. The froggy bottom basket is coming along.
