March 11, 2019 Anza Borrego Desert State Park, California

60's again, but cloudy and windy. Raining now in the evening.

The ranger in the visitors center told us to go to the 5th rock bridge, go down into the wash and hike north. So we did. Great slot canyon. There are 100's of them here. John entering the slot. John photo bombing my shot of the slot.

John strolling past a tree in the narrow canyon. You have to wonder how the tree survives the flash floods that roar down this. Lovely slot canyon.

This is the end of the canyon. John sitting on the lip of the dry fall. Beautiful water sculpted fall. John photographing the water .

The water left in the water sculpted pothole. We had lunch here. Rains since July 1 7.48 inches-and the year is not over with yet, last year 1.26 and the year before 7.38. Desert gold and phacelia, tiny daisy flowers on a bush, and a Spanish needle back lit with the desert golds.

Beetle minding his own business, Ghost flowers, not sure I have seen them before, and a layer of conglomerate rocks. John winding his way out of the canyon on the way back to the car.

Weird huge round rock, poppies, lupine, and a river worked form on the canyon wall. Exposed roots, little purple gentians and more river work on the canyon wall.

John hanging out and being casual down the canyon. Ocotillo making a nice contrast with the red walls, black caterpillar, I loved the lines and colors in this.

We drove 4 miles on a sandy 4 wheel drive road out to Font's point to overlook the badlands. You get out of the car and the view point is right there on top of a sheer cliff. Beautiful canyons.

Some of the ridges are green from the rains. Looking straight down over the cliff at cool canyons.

No sure what this plant is but it looked fun with the red lines in the rock, lupines, phacelia and this sign was way out at the end of a 4 wheel drive road at the top of a cliff. We only saw one car out here and it was stuck in the sand. One of the free BLM dispersed camping spots. You could camp all along most of the road.

Me dancing with the dinosaurs at the visitors center in town. John walking through the metal sculptures in a landscape business. They were made by metal artists in Mexico.
