April 9-12, 2020 Shoshone, California

50's, partly cloudy.

I thought the cool cloud shapes would give us a good sunset, but this was it. No sunset colors but it is kind of cool. I finished my mask making chores and got back to my masterpiece. The center is a piece of glass I was experimenting with trying to make the light rays that come through the trees when there is a mist or fog. These are supposed to be trees, but they look like cactus. I am using a color combination I don't really like, but it seems to go with the center. Stay tuned for the progress. It is 8 x 8 inches now.

Today we took a jeep ride with Susan, and Judy D. We drove up towards the Kingston Mountains. Looking across the valley from the Columbia Mine with bear poppies in the foreground. Mojave aster plant, mojave aster flower and the alien family we found in the Columbia mine.

bear poppy bloom, fragrant crypanthia, and mariposa lily from the side and the top. Susan in the mouth of the Columbia Mine.

The scenery was beautiful. Desert mountains in bloom. Mojave aster in a mojave desert backdrop.  Blue sage, little yellow wooly daisies, cholla and yucca.

Blue sage with with rugged mountains. Mountains, red rocks and desert plants.

Blue sage and and yuccas. Susan and Judy consulting the map to determine which turn to make next.

View of the Pahrump valley and the Spring mountains with snow. John found a piece of old abandoned mining equipment to ride.

Rabbit bush with last years dead blooms and cool looking mountains. Yucca and twin peaks.

Palmer's penstemon with yellow wooly daisies, blue sage and blue sage with  globe mallow. Palmer's penstemon, bristly fiddle necks, indian paint brush and  a really tall yucca bloom.

We stopped for take out at Steaks and Beer in Tecopa on the way home. Judy, Susan and John. John has the 16 oz rib eye. Yummy dinner.

We had a bring your own happy hour on our patio this afternoon. Proper social distancing. Judy, Lorraine, John, Judy D and Susan.  Judy finished the knitting part of her sweater this afternoon. She started it 60 years ago.

Robbie, the dogs and the neighbor boys came by our happy hour tonight. John practicing proper social distancing while pouring Lorraine a glass of wine.
