October 22-23, 2023 Sol Duc, Olympic National Park, Washington

58 and mostly sunny. Really nice since the prediction was cold and rain/snow mix.

John hooked up the new tow bar and off we went. Lake Crescent.

The bus at the Sol Duc RV campground. Very nice. Last time we were here it rained the whole time and the campground was full. Now it is almost empty. Our back yard at the RV park.

We had a nice soak at the hot springs. Two pools, one 104 and the other 108 degrees. And a large swimming pool that is about 55 degrees. We went for a hike on Lover's lane up to the other two campgrounds.

The trail goes along the river in fall colors of alder, big leaf maple and numerous  shrubs.

John on the trail with sunshine and fall colors. The peak up canyon.

We had dinner at the picnic table since it was so nice out. Moon rising over the canyon and river.

High of 45 degrees and partly sunny. A treat since cold and snow were predicted. We hiked to Sol Duc Falls. John on the trail.

John on a bridge with fall colors. A shelter cabin built by the falls.

Sol Duc falls are cool because it is split into 3 different falls. They are in a crevice, so they are hard to photograph.

We hiked up the trail a little bit farther and saw Canyon Creek falls. The trail in the deep dark forest.

Roots on the trail. Mushrooms, trail sign, a couple of Steller's jays and a heart shaped hole in a stump.
