October 9, 2023 Osoyoos Lake to Oroville, Washington

It was supposed to rain all day today, but instead it was72 and partly cloudy.

I decided to take a spin on the lake. The water was totally calm. Reflections were beautiful.

Reflection of a nice house. Reflection of Canada Geese.

Mallard, flying birds, seagull, and lily pads. Relaxing on Lake Osoyoos, looking into Canada at the end of the lake. The lake is a narrow 12 mile long lake in both countries.

I saw this sign, thinking it might say no wake zone, but no it is a customs reporting sign. We go over Washington Pass into North Cascade National park to continue going west. The weather on the pass does not look good for us the next couple days. Three signs showing the record levels of the lake over the years. These signs are from the bank, way above the lake. In 1872 they did not have good measuring tools, but the calculated the level by the water mark on the hotel in town. Osoyoos Lake is mostly in Canada. The sign says Help secure our borders, report boats landing and passengers  leaving, or late night landings where the boat leaves immediately.

The campground. We checked out the local brewery, Past Times Brewery. John with his IPA in front of the antique rosewood bar.

Cute mural downtown. This area has a lot of apple orchards, cherry orchards and vineyards. 62 and very rainy. We moved to Ester Brix winery. We had been here before 10 years ago. They have expanded and are growing all their grapes now. Beautiful place.

Our view of the vineyards. John's rainforest camo coat works pretty well in the vineyard too.

John walking into the tasting room. Linda pouring us some wine to taste. Excellent wine, it was hard to choose which one to buy, they were all really good. We bought a bottle of Cabernet Franc.

Steve and Linda our hosts. Really fun people. It was nice to see them again. This morning the rain and clouds obscured the mountain across the valley from us. There are apple orchards across the street.
