Fern Canyon and Agate beach, CA 10/22

We went to fern canyon today. It is in Prairie Creek State park. It is where they filmed part of Lost World, it looks like where dinosaurs live, the walls of the canyon are covered with ferns. It is GREEN.  The ferns and moss drip water.

John, John and John in Fern Canyon

There were lots of mushrooms and things I did not know what were.

John photographing the amenitas, the red spotted mushroom is an amenita.

I have no idea what this other red stuff is.
Or the white stuff to the left. The one above is a chanterelle.

Red mushroom and shamrocks. Above is a banana slug, the California state mollusk.
We ran into more of the Roosevelt elk too.

Above left is a huge bull elk, check out the rack. The right one is spike, with one spike missing. Wild sign for the wild elk. Seems like overkill to me. Who wouldn't know the elk were wild?

We hiked down to Agate Beach at low tide to look for agates. There were lots of really pretty ocean polished rocks. I did find a couple agates too.

To get to Fern Canyon we had to drive down the beach thru some creeks. Good thing it is a Subaru.
A photo of a Palmer pointed to Palmer's Point!

It is raining right now. Supposed to all weekend. We may run to Eureka and do bank etc, or just stay home and relax. Relaxing is sounding best now!
