Trinidad Ca and Praire Creek Redwood State Park 10/19

We started out driving to Trinidad Ca, just 5 miles south of where we are parked near Patrick Point State Park. Visited the light house and the beach. My foot is still hurting so we did not walk very far.

After that we went to Orick for lunch. Orick is the local Indians word for the sound a frog makes. After lunch we went to Lady Bird Johnson grove of redwoods. Really cool looking one, but I can't hike so we didn't go very far. We drove to the Prairie Creek Redwood state park next. Really some odd shaped trees, like the corkscrew tree. It is in a rain forest area, so really lush, ferns and lots of moss.

These are in the Lady Bird Johnson grove. Note John's evil twin the pyro inside a burnt out redwood trunk-the tree is still alive. Below are more LBJ grove trees.

There were lots of trails that went thru the redwoods to the sea, but of course my foot still hurts. It is killing me not hiking. We continued to the coastal road in the Prairie Creek area. It was a dirt, one lane road on top of a cliff 1000 feet above the water. We took this even skinnier very steep road to a look out right over the ocean and found that we were above the fog on the coast and it was sunset.

sunsets. I made John pose, what good is a silhouette if he is only standing there?
John drove home after dark in the fog. Guess he has lots of practice driving in whiteouts in Colorado. He says tomorrow he will take my shoes away so I won't hike, and rest my foot. We all know taking my shoes away won't make me stay in, he  says next he will take my pants away. . .
