We went to Prairie De Chien, Wi. We drove down a scenic drive along the Mississippi. John went to Campion a Jesuit boys boarding high school there. It is now a prison! He said he always thought it felt like a prison, but now it is. It did not have the razor wire or the guard with a shotgun driving around it then. We also toured an 18th century mansion, Villa Louis, built by a wealthy fur trader. They did not let us take photos of it. It was very luxurious.

the pink elephant, Thenext photo is a model of the effigy mounds. The mounds were burial grounds for the Indians. These mounds are shaped like bears and birds.
Marquette, Iowa. It is across the river from Prairie Du Chien. Amish rider on the road
We went to Dodgeville next. We went to the House on the rock. It is just north of Spring Green. It is a cool house built right on top of a rock. The house was cool. The builder, Alex Jordon was also a collector of just about everything. His collections fill a bunch of warehouse galleries. There was so much stuff, some of it pretty weird. It was way too much in too short of a time.
House on the rock, infinity room from outside, and inside.
one of the rooms in the House on the Rock, a wall in one of the bathrooms
one of the music machines , John on the Throne of Passion
the ceiling of the aviation room, the carousel
The carousel had thousands of antique animals and many that Alex had made. Also way too many red lights. Another of Alex’s music machines was with it. I could have watched the carousel for hours the animals were so cool.
John going into the organ room. It had a bunch of huge organs and huge machines and sculptures, lots more red light. It was almost like Dante’s inferno in there, pretty weird. the last photo is a poster in the front. The trees had grown up so much around the house you could not see it, but this is how it looked before the trees.
The next day we toured Frank Lloyd Wrights house, Taliesin. It was much more soothing. Nice lines, built to blend in with nature. They did not let us take photos inside of it.

more of the house, used to be the barn, but was remodeled into living space for the apprentices to live in. one of the stairs
