We are still camped at Chimen-a-Haut. It is pronounced kind of like hemen a haw. The names of things in this area are not pronounced like they look like they should be. I am getting used to southern accents. Nice slow and genteel.
sunset on the bayou, the tree in the second one was a weird shape anyway, but reflected it was kind of cute
Fungi, and Feed me-place donations here
John looking in to Black Bayou from the board walk. they had a 1250 foot boardwalk out onto the bayou. Turtles sunning. It is really pretty and peaceful here. There are lots of birds and animals. You can hear rustling, splashing and hear wings, but you don’t see the animals. I would love to take the boat and binoculars out and explore. John pointed out that it was really cold and in my boat you sit in the water.
bald cypress on black bayou
John holding a 2 year old alligator, fistful of gater
John petting the beaver, we had lunch at the Cypress Inn
landscaping with oyster shells, and geez, I turn my back on John for a minute and he puts his head in an alligators mouth!
full moon sunset on the bayou, Sue with an alligator turtle. They hang out on the bottom of the swamp and wait for little alligators for lunch. the turtles can grow to twice this size.
Sue with the gator. He’s kind of cute, and this beaver is really soft
