Judy, John and I hiked the ridge above Tecopa.
The view of Tecopa from the ridge, John and Judy checking the natural compass against their GPS’s, water form the Grimshaw lake and Tecopa lake.
a metal sculpture from the sculpture garden outside C’est Si Bonne crepe shop in Shoshone. The Bistro and Sue, John, Laurie and Judy having dinner at the Bistro. Judy and Laurie were to leave back to Palo Alto the next day, so this was the last supper.
Of course the next day we woke up to snow! It never snows on the desert. We got a very rare storm. It snowed just above Shoshone and at Tecopa. Judy and Laurie could not go back because the passes in the Sierras and the Costal ranges were close due to snow. Here is the pass toward Pahrump with snow, snow behind the museum, storm clouds west of Shoshone and snow on the hills behind Judy’s house.
Here is the same snow covered hill in the evening, all the snow is gone. We went to Pahrump the next day. They got more snow. Here is a cloud over Pahrump and hoar frost covered shrubberies on the way
Snow and palm trees, the hill behind home depot. When we cleaned out Bennies house I found what looked like a thermos. I picked it up and it felt like it was full of lead, so I dropped it back on the dirt. Laura had done the same thing. Judy and John were horrified, it was an unexploded shell from sometime when the did army maneuvers in the desert. John spent a couple days chasing the sheriff down and reported it. The army sent their bomb disposal team, 4 soldiers, a bomb robot, etc. The decided the bomb was not dangerous and put it in a ammo can and off it went. Pretty exciting for Shoshone.
