We are still visiting my brother in DC. Joanie put us to work our first day.

The next day we went down to the capital. Lots of construction going on. Construction in front of the capital, the white house. You have to have reservations like 6 months in advance to tour the white house, thru your senator. Darn, we wanted to tour.
They are earing out the reflecting pool and replacing the cement. Taken from the Lincoln monument toward the Washington monument. The Washington monument was damaged in a recent earthquake and you can’t climb it now. Darn, we wanted to climb it. . .
Smokey the Bear in his office at the National Forest Service building. The Smithsonian castle. We had lunch in the castle. All of the Smithsonian museums are free. We went to the Smithsonian Natural history museum.We had dinner there.
We saw Titanoboa, a 50 foot snake who lived in Chile 60 million years ago.
The Hope Diamond. Huge display of jewels and cool rocks. the fossil lab.
Sunset on Pennsylvania avenue, the metro train station, that is our train coming in. Getting to and from downtown is almost as exciting as downtown.
