We tried to hike to the Phoenix waterfall today. The trail description says it is 2.2 miles each way. They failed to mention that you also have to hike a 2.2 4 wheel drive road before you get to the 2.2 mile harder 4 wheel drive road to the falls. Lots of steep up and down, we finally decided that hiking 5.6 miles and 1,531 of vertical was enough.
The waterfall is kind of behind the spire in the middle of the valley, the trail starts at near the base of it, we had already hiked almost 2 miles at this point. John is now on the correct road to get to the falls.
It was a lovely day to hike in the aspen. Here is John hiking back up the long hill back toward the car.
Blue sky, white clouds and green aspen. One of the mines we passed on the way to and from.
Driving back down the road toward town. We drove this road yesterday, but it was raining the whole way. Two different colors of larkspurs, blue and white.
Purple flower, pine tree, mushroom, butterfly, pine tree pollon, wild rose, sneezeweed and ripe wild strawberry.
