In the 40’s and windy. Day best spent shopping and stocking up.
Right before sunset the sun sort of came out, so I rode my bike to the beach and was rewarded with gorgeous at the fishing pier.
The light came up from under the clouds and just lit up the bottoms in a spectacular changing display. And the waves were huge.
We went out to dinner at J.W. Richards. It looked kind of like a local spot. John and Bev had sea food, I had the special- beans and rice. There was all kinds of stuff on the walls and ceiling. Surf boards, sharks, shot guns etc.
Surfer Girls only! The next morning Bev and I went to a talk/walk on the edible and medicinal plants in the park at Gator Lake by Judith a volunteer. It was too cold for the gators, they stayed underwater.
Sue and Bev dressed for Florida in the winter. It got down to 33 degrees last night and was very windy. It did warm up into the 50’s by afternoon and was pretty pleasant in the sun. Contorted oak trees on the Gator lake trail.
Bright green duck weed on the lake in the calm section. It is not scum, but a small 3 leafed plant which is edible. Bev on the trail with palmettos.
After the walk I tackled the broken shade (broken cord) in the bedroom. It has a tangled web of cords holding it together. The first time I fixed on of these it took all day and lots of cursing, last time it only took about 4 or 5 hours with my notes from the previous time, today it only took two and a half hours and it did not even make me mad. Here is John hanging it back up. Bev and I rode bikes to the beach for sunset. The sand is pretty wind blown from the high winds.
The wind is also blowing spray off the big waves. Bev took this nice photo of me.
There were no clouds tonight so the sunset was not as dramatic, but still very lovely. Bev with her toes in the water. The water was warmer than the air. I guess the weather does not know it is supposed to be warm in Florida.
Willets lined up for sunset. Some of the cool shells washed up. Sea star, broken slipper shell, sand dollar and a colorful cockle shell.
Broken conch shell, sanderling running back and forth with the waves looking for food, orange ark, crab leg, broken conch, scallop, pieces of cockle and sand dollar, orange cockle shell.
Bev cooked us dinner in her motor home. We were her first dinner guest in it. She made yummy spaghetti. I made garlic bread and salad, John brought the wine.
