The moon rose during our walk today in the park. Here it is in the sunset over the middle lake, which is the medium sized one.
And here it is from our campsite. I think it will be full tomorrow. It is always entertaining to travel with John, you just never know what he will do next. Here he is dressed as a gnome. . .
We made it to Florida. John was sure the moment we crossed the border it would be sunny and warm. No such luck, it is raining and in the 50’s. We are now parked at Gulf Island National Park at Pickens Fort campground. The AAA book says there is snow white sand and aquamarine water make Pensacola Beach (Which is the closest town.) one Florida’s most beautiful beaches. Bordered by two preserved seashores the area offers more than 20 miles of beachfront covered in sugary sand composed of 99 percent pure quartz. Visitors have access to plenty of undeveloped oceanfront. We are on Santa Rosa Island, Pensacola Beach is one end of it and the other is Fort Pickens- and 2 and a half miles of undeveloped beach. We will check all that out when the sun comes out. The bus at our campsite in the rain, under live oak trees.
Being a rainy day I am finishing off a basket I started last spring for this pot, which had basil in it at one time and will again. I also decided to cook a lasagna for dinner. Of course here we are way out of town on an island in the gulf and when I pull out the box of lasagna noodles there are only 6 noodles in it. Oh well, I filled in with spaghetti. It will taste the same.
The sand the water in the gulf look wonderful here. I can hardly wait for the sun to come out. Here is John in his raincoat wading in the gulf. He says the water is warmer than the air.
