March 3-5, 2018 Indian Pass, Florida

73 and sunny. We hung and relaxed today. Worked on my basket in my lawn chair.

Evening light on the salt marsh on the bays side of the peninsula. I took my boat out at dusk. The ocean was smooth but there was a current running along the beach , it was easy paddling out, but work to paddle back.

The wildlife refuge island that we paddled to yesterday. This is a manatee surfacing to breathe. All you see of them, their nostrils . It looked cool on the sunset water.

A great blue heron posed for me in the sunset back at shore.  Sunset in the pine trees.

The progress on the masterpiece. It is looking more basket like now. 70 today and sunny. We went to St Joe's Peninsula State park. We camped here the first time we came to this area. It has been full every other time since. According to their brochure.
It has 9.5 miles of snow white sand beaches lapped by clear, aqua-blue waters. It is rated as one of the best beaches in the nation.

John on the snow white sand by the aqua-blue waters. We walked 5 miles. Much of this is a wilderness preserve, so you can't drive to it, you have to walk so it was practically deserted. No cars, no hotels, miniature golf or anything. Just the beach. With lots of shells too.

We are not sure if riding bikes down here is legal, but not our problem. The interior of the peninsula is pine trees. There is a trail right up the middle that you can backpack and camp on.

After the beach we went into the town of Port St. Joe and saw the light house. The sign says  no flip flops, spikes or shoes open in the back to climb the lighthouse. If you are wearing any of those they want you to walk up barefoot. They also have full moon nights that it is open. It is only open Thurs to Sat otherwise and of course today was Sunday. A sign closing parts of the beach for the snowy plovers to lay their eggs. We saw dolphins and this ghost crab on the beach. They have these T-shirts at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Duran's Piggly makes me wiggly, many have the hind end of a pig on the back and Peace, Love, Pig.

Pelican in the sunset tonight at Indian Pass near camp. And sunset tonight (the next night) from camp.
Another night of Indian Pass campground being full. We were lucky to get a spot. Or as John says, he planned it.
