High of 44 and breezy. Brrr
We filled up with $2.83 /gal fuel this morning. When we got to Norman, it was $2.71/gal., turkey at Turkey park campground, and a great blue heron on Lake Thunderbird. Lake Thunderbird.
Last light on the red oak trees.
Lake Thunderbird.
Last light on the bus at Turkey Pass campground at Thunderbird Late State Park. Sunset.
We drove into Norman to run some errands and to visit the Beer is Good Brewery. Welcome to Norman, Beer is Good (BIG) brewing, mural on the wall of the brewery of Audrey, the carnivorous plant from Little Shop of Horrors. Instead of FEED ME, she is saying BEER ME, how to survive the holidays-drink! there is on other way, Johns Lizzie Bordon imperial IPA, and 405 brewing is across the street, but we just went in and checked it out, no more beer, John had to drive. We also went to the National Weather Museum. There were a lot of cool old instruments they used to read weather with. I learned that Gabrielle Fahrenheit a glass blower invented the thermometer in 1724. And the first computer that interpreted Doppler radar. we wanted to tour the National Weather Center, but the tours were full.
John with his IPA and the abominable snow man at the Beer is Good brewery. Beautiful, historic, downtown Norman.
John with the James Garner statue. James was born in Denver, Oklahoma, which is now under Lake Thunderbird. Lake Thunderbird.
When we got back to camp we did a short hike by the lake. I didn't know before that The state of Oklahoma was territorial Indian land. It is really depressing to see where all these Indians originally lived, before white man drove them out to Oklahoma. Many walked on the Trail of Tears to get here and many died. We were in the Choctaw nation, drove across the Chickasaw nation and are staying in the Potawatomi nation.
Thunderbird Lake. Cool clouds.
Pre sunset photos. When the sun gets to the horizon it is blocked by clouds. Lenticular clouds.
