December 8-9.2024 Foss, Oklahoma

The high was 59, foggy in the am and sunny all afternoon.

We are now camped at Foss Lake State Park, Foss, Oklahoma, right on the lake. I first thought these were apples and went to collect some for a pie, but they are osage oranges, which are not toxic, but not edible.

Looks like one of the boat sheds collapsed. One of many billboards for the Cherokee trading post. We are actually in the Cheyenne Nation now. Johns says remember that the trading posts were run by the white guys, they must have been confused. At first I thought this log was a dog, coots on the lake, a gigantic acorn , bad phot of 3  hooded mergansers and sea gulls.

Really red dirt and really blue water with white sea gulls.  Trees in the tent camping area.

The bus is on the point. I was hiking around and found where they have the Halloween event. Welcome to the Carnevil, 3 skulls for you soul, killing booth, big target with a life sized skeleton with axes embedded in it and terror in a box.

Sunset from camp. John walking into the Christmas light display here at the park.

Christmas lights here at the park.

We woke up to dense fog. It was condensing on the trees around us and dripping like rain. Mid 40's and very windy. Brrr. We drove down route 66 to Elk City to visit the route 66 museum. It was actually a museum complex that also included the National Transportation museum, Old Town museum, Farm and Ranch museum and the Blacksmith museum. All for$4 each with our senior discount.

Part of the Transportation museum. The museum consisted of many small buildings with exhibits in each.

Soda fountain in the drug store. Part of the windmill collection at the Farm and Ranch museum.

Farm and  Ranch museum. The Cotton Boll Motel neon sign was listed as the number one attraction in Foss, and it is not even in Foss, it is down route 66 west, raw cotton, collection of tractor seats in the Farm and Ranch museum, A bomb pedal car in the  Old Town museum in an exhibit of toys. In Elk City was Matt's barber shop, that said cigars and brews on the door and a collection of anvils in the Blacksmith museum.

Beautiful, historic, downtown Elk City. John and I posing with Santa's sleigh.

The dirt is really red here and the lake really blue. Looks good with the surf- caused by the cold wind. Pre sunset tonight from camp.
