Crater Lake, Ore Sept 14

Finally made it to Crater Lake. The last two times we were near by it snowed they closed the rim road. We took the boat tour around the lake. This is the last week of the boat running. They won't let any other boats on the lake. It is one of the purest lakes in the world. The color is aquamarine blue, and best on a clear sunny day like today was. The hike down into the caldera for the boat ride is 1.1 miles and almost 800 feet vertical. Not for the weak of heart. The boat tour was 2 hours. Then we hiked up Watchman peak, only .75 miles, but the same steep hike. We are going back tomorrow to drive the rim road around the lake. And have lunch in the fancy Crater Lake lodge.
