Morro Bay and Hearst Castle Dec 6, 2010

We arrived at Morro Bay on Sat. The town is on this beautiful bay with a huge rock-Morro Rock on the bay. John has a friend here from Eagle/paramedic school/fire department Jerry. We visited with him and his wife Ariane. They have a huge wood shop where Jerry builds banjos among other things. Ariane has a huge ceramic studio. Made me miss my studio. We saw a Christmas parade of boats with Christmas lights on them. It has been rainy. Today was clear and sunny. Beautiful. We toured Hearst Castle. Saw tide pools and elephant seals.

On the way here we stopped in Salinas to see an artwork called The Hat. It is supposed to represent a cowboy hat being thrown in the air. It has seen better times, needs a coat of paint and has caution tape around part of it.

the elephant seals are monstrous. The bulls weight 5000 lbs. John took the photo at the bottom , of the downstairs pool at Hearst Castle.
