Shoshone Ca and Pahrump NV Dec 21

Stayed up most of the night watching the eclipse. It has been raining almost none stop, but the rain slowed down and the clouds parted around the moon.  Nice.

Today we drove the Pahrump to pick up the newsletter for the museum, groceries and Xmas wrapping paper. We wanted to get  out. All of the canyons that can flash flood are running now. The road is closed frequently when it rains because the rivers run over the road. The Amargosa river usually runs underground, but today it is deep. The big rain is supposed to come tonight and tomorrow.

Lake Tecopa. It is usually a dry lake bed. It has to rain really a lot to have water in it. To the right is the Amargosa River. This is raging for it. But it will rise tomorrow, people have died trying to drive the road when it is running.
