October 27, 2017 Riffle Run, Burnsville Lake, West Virginia

I made the basket last spring. I just finished the bead weaving that is around the edge. The beads took 24 hours, one hour for each inch. Looks great on the basket. If you are in the middle of nowhere along the southern Ohio river there are lots of churches, but not much else, we went over the river into West Virginia. We drove part of the way on the Blue-Gray highway. We think it has to do with the civil war. We went through Ravenswood, one of West Virginia's safest cities, through Ripley- they believe, and a store called Vail, I always think of Vail as a ski area. This tractor is mowing the shoulder.

We drove most of our drive on very winding and narrow roads in the middle of nowhere West Virginia. There was no shoulder and the lanes went from being barely wide enough for the bus to the bus using one and a half lanes. It was mostly in very narrow canyons with solid trees. Once and awhile there was a clearing with either a house or a town. This is the biggest town we went through here.

Very winding with a house clearing on the left. But mostly solid trees.

A house and barn along the road. This last photo is of the lane and a half for the bus part, no shoulder. There is a right angle turn to the left, a very steep slope then a right angle turn to the right. The GPS took us on this road. Very nerve racking, but John pulled it off.

We are camped outside of Burnsville, West Virginia on Burnsville Lake. They are having halloween festivities tomorrow. So if you decorate your site you get a free day. We had no decorations so I hung up a sheet with duct tape eyes and made faces on ours squash. No one said they had to be good decorations.  It was sunny and the 70's. The weather report says this is the nicest day of the week. It will start raining tomorrow. So I put the boat on the lake.

Fall color, green meadows and thick trees around the lake.

Fall colors.

Last light on the trees by the lake, color, a deer I saw beside the lake, a hickory nut in it's thick shell and reflections.

The Lake became mirror smooth and had great reflections.
