Here I am boarding our tour boat. It was a cloudy, misty cool 60's day. View from the boat.
Narrow side canyons, fall colors, swirly water, colorful cliffs.
The highlight of the trip was Witches Gulch. It is a very narrow canyon with a boardwalk in it.
Some of the crazy lines in the rocks in the Dell and the gulch. The gulch got narrower with overhangs and bright green moss.
Narrow, green and deep.
After Witches Gulch we went to Stand Rock. Years ago H. H Bennett took this photo of his son jumping across this gap to Standing Rock over a 47 and a half foot drop. It made the Dells famous. Today they have a dog jump across it for the tours.
Some lines and colors in the rocks by the Stand Rock. We headed back after that. It was foggy and it began to rain. John said the tour was just as good today as it was as a child. This is where he fell in love with slot canyons.
To warm up we went to the Moose Jaw Brewery for a late lunch. They gave us moose horns to wear and their delivery vans have a giant moose on top of them. I would hate to be stuck in traffic behind one, the view is of the south end of a north going moose. John was not happy to wear the moose horns.
