September 29-October 3 , 2017 Forest Edge Winery to Maddens, Brainerd, Minnesota

We started out at a Harvest Host site at Forest Edge Winery. We were going to stay the night, but Brian talked us into coming to visit them a day earlier instead.

Forest Edge Winery makes fruit wines, very good fruit wines. Above is the landscaping. The butterflies are still migrating. There are tons around the flowers. On our tour we saw vats of blueberries getting ready to be crushed. Our tour guide John, with John and Brian. Brian and John have known each other since college.

John and Brian. This is where we would have spent the night behind the winery. But we got a better offer.

An aerial view of Madden's Brian and Debbie's fabulous golf resort on Gull Lake. There are much better pictures at https://www.maddens.com/the-resort/. The lovely room we are staying in on the lake.

Our view from our deck and the bus is resting by the lake.

Brian took us in the Cheerio a vintage Chris Craft that he and Deb restored across the lake for dinner. Sunset from the lake.

Today at the antique car and tractor show John tried out this motorized walker. It has skates attached to the back. We had appetizers and dinner at Brian and Deb's house tonight. Lots of fun.
We saw this cross between an ox and bass today. With the added bonus of the two you girls sitting on it. Then we did some 'pretty good shopping'

It was a rainy day. We stayed in. Tonight we went out to dinner with Brian and Deb. Then had a rousing game of dominos.

Fog and the moon over Gull lake on our last night at Maddens. The bus  parked at the Memory Lake RV park in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.
