October 12, 2022 Colorado National Monument, Fruita, Colorado

 78 degrees and sunny.

I started this basket in the spring and just finished it the other day. It is 10 x 10 x 2 1/4 inches. I cast the dichroic glass center and it is made with dyed pine needles, polyester cord ,metal  and glass beads. We went to Colorado National Monument today. This is the view from the west end.

John on cliff that was a lot higher than it looks in this photo. Sentinel Spire.

Holey entrada sandstone. John in the alcove at the end of one of the Alcove Canyon..

John posing in a small cave. Flowers, a cool cave and Colorado National Monument.

Another wild cave. View of huge monoliths.

Window Rock, the window is on the upper right of the cliff. We walked to a viewpoint of it that is right on top of it, but did not see the window until farther down the canyon looking back. Up close to a couple monoliths.

Independence Monument. View looking west in Colorado National Monument.

The Coke Ovens. Looking east at the same view we saw earlier, but with better afternoon light.

A couple of the critters seen today. A mountain sheep and a wind ruffled raven. Balanced Rock is a 600 pound rock balanced on top of  a spire.

Back at camp Jeff and Martha and Jimjim camped across the street from us. We had a nice happy hour and a lovely dinner.

Jimjim serenading us during happy hour.
