October 15 - 17, 2022 Ridgeway, Colorado to Bluff, Utah

 70 degrees and sunny.

Finished this little basket. It is 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 3/3 inches. It is made from dyed pine needles, glass beads and polyester thread. I fused the center and on the front is a moonstone bead. I took a 2-3 mile hike around the trails in the park we are in. This is a view from the upper campground.

Looking down on Ridgway Reservoir. Another view from my hike today.

Fall leaves in some rocks, yellow maples, red maples and aspen trunks. Mears Bay at Ridgway Reservoir. There is a swim beach and it is a no wake zone.

Working on this basket now. It is 4 1/4 inches here. I sandblasted the Hawaiian petroglyph of a figure holding up a single bladed paddle in the center, fused it, then beveled and polished it for the center.  Sunset from camp. Looks a lot like last nights, but it is still spectacular.

63 and mostly cloudy. We went to Orvis hot springs and had a lovely soak. Then we went to Ouray to check out the breweries. We did not stop at Mr Grumpy Pants, there were 4 breweries. John at Ouray Brewing on the upper deck. John had an IPA, I had a wine in a can and we had French fries.

Beautiful historic downtown Ouray. We wanted to eat dinner, but were not crazy about Ouray Brewing's menu so we went to Red Mountain Brewing. Turns out they have none of their own beer yet, so we had some he said 'came from a warehouse in Denver' and appetizers for dinner.

Another shot of historic downtown Ouray. 68 and sunny. We headed south west toward Utah. The last of Ridgway State Park on the right.

The higher we got the cottonwoods had lost most of their leaves, but the aspens still had their fall leaves. Welcome to Utah. We topped off the tank in Monticello, it is 5.18.9 behind the post in front of the sign. We only got 40.46 gallons, @ $210.36.

Wide open Utah. Monticello in the distance.

Driving into Bluff. The cottonwoods are mostly green, the rocks are red when they are not backlit. I am almost done with this basket. I don't really like the orange beads around the center. I may change them. It is 8 1/2 x 2 inches. The center is a beveled polished piece of dichroic glass I made. The bevel makes it hard to see the Hawaiian petroglyph of a figure holding a single bladed paddle over  head. It is two layers of dichro, a gold one with the figure and one with the blue design above.  It is made of dyed pine needles and polyester thread.

Meanwhile I started this one on the drive.  Front and back. The center is a failed piece of glass I made. It didn't have enough glass to be a circle, so I decided to just slump it into a bowl mold, but it slipped on the mold and did not slump evenly. I love the colors, so now it is a basket center. Pine needles dyed black and polyester thread. it is about 6 1/2 inches here. Sunset on the backyard of today.

John at dinner at our campsite at Coral Sands RV park.
