February 4, 2021 Bullhead City, Arizona

 64 degrees and sunny. The wind was in the high 20's with gusts in the 30's mph. It was way to windy to go outside. But it looked nice out. 

In the late afternoon the wind dropped a little bit so we went for a walk on the beach.  A balanced rock at Davis Camp where we are camped. John walking on the beach at Davis camp, where we are camped. 

My view out the window when I woke up this am. Blue sky, blue river and green trees. This road runner came up to me begging for food. It was flipping the crest on top of it's head up and down and chattering it's beak at me.

We checked out Lake Mohave, which is behind the dam that we are camped at the base of. Looks refreshing. We drove up Silver Creek, dirt road to get a closer look at the surrounding rugged mountains. 

Mountains coming into Oatman, AZ. Oatman is an old mining town which turned into a tourist trap on Route 66.Cute town but too touristy for us. It was packed, no where to park. No masks or social distancing. Guess the pandemic didn't make it to Oatman. We have been here before so didn't stop. 

Oatman is well know for the burros, which are descendants for the miners burros, walking around town. This cute house had a baby burro on the porch.

We drove across the river to Laughlin, which is in Nevada and a different time zone. Caution, burros in the road,  street art in Laughlin and thanks for visiting Laughlin, NV, come back soon. The Colorado Belle casino is closed. It is shaped like a river boat.

February 2-3, 2021 Bullhead City, Arizona

 75 degrees today and sunny. We drove north to Bullhead City and scored a spot in our favorite campground here, Davis Camp.. 

Mountains to the north of Quartzsite.  We crossed the Colorado River into California at Parker, Az below the dam and the river was really low. Then we crossed it again above the dam in Needles back into Arizona and the river was much higher.

I was sitting in my lawn chair minding my own business working on my basket and the river started rising, all of a sudden my feet were wet. They just have let some water out of the Davis dam above camp. Either that or the tide came in. Newest masterpiece is close to being done. The center are some turquoise beads set in resin, natural and dyed pine needles, polyester thread and gem chips around the rim. It is 6 x 6 x 2 1/2 inches.

I went for a walk along the beach. The Colorado River is so low that the swim beach is dry.  Looking north from our site at the campground. I love this place. None of these sites have hookups, the the location is ideal. 

I was happily working on my basket at our picnic table under the shelter and CRASH- the wind blew this hunk of dead branches out of the palm tree above me. So glad I was in the shelter.

January 29-February 1, 2021 Quartzsite, Arizona

 61 degrees, partly cloudy, little rainy and windy. We drove to Quartzsite.

Mountain views on the way to Quartzsite. Our first stop  was the RV Pit Stop. We dumped the tanks, filled the water tank up with reverse osmosis water. The water tastes hideous down here you have to buy drinking water and the salts precipitate in your plumbing. And we got propane. At the propane part was this sign "You only blow up once.

We are camped out in free BLM dispersed camping. Just parked out in the desert. It is lovely. There are other people camped out here too, but not close by. The view from our campsite. We went for a long walk on the desert, didn't see a soul. We are in miles and miles of nothing but desert in the middle of nowhere. A view from our hike.

Lone saguaro. I finished this basket. It is 7 1/2 x 6 1/2 by 3 inches. The center is fused from dichroic glass earrings I made. It is made from natural and dyed pine needles, glass beads and polyester thread.

The almost full moon rising. Today I went to my friend Pam's house and we worked on baskets. She made the blue basket in the front. She has taught me so much of what I know. Today I got to show her a new stitch. She is left handed and can't figure out the written instructions since they are written for right handed people. So we worked together and she got it. We sat outside and wore masks to be safe.

Second night in a row with clouds and no sunset, but at the last minute we got this thin line of sunset. I went to Gem World in Quartzsite today. It is the best bead store ever, great prices. I did well, I only got these.

John took the bus to the RV Proctologist yesterday for a colonoscopy to get the waste tanks cleaned. It feels much better now.
