San Jose, Thanksgiving and San Francisco 11/29/10

We went to Judy and Laurie's for Thanksgiving. Jill and Laural were there, they cooked a huge vegetarian dinner, we brought an apple pie and John cooked a turkey breast in the dutch oven. Judy made stuffing and zucchini boats. I meant to take a photo of all the food, but we ate it before I remembered. We got a couple nice photos of Judy, Jill and I .

Judy had her eyes closed in this one, but a nice smile, and this one she had her eyes open.

I made two more baskets.

We had left overs at our place Fri night.

John and I visited the Rosicrucian Egyptian museum

This fountain has a woman statue on top. John say it is Rhoda Crouton. . . another view of the front

Indian Valley, Walnut Creek, Ca Nov 23

Jerry and I went to school at Indian Valley elementary school.

The front of the school, essentially unchanged, from above and behind. New play ground and new building in the way back. But the rest the same. And the tree outside the fence on the ranch land. Had cows under it then. Is an open space now. Shell Ridge open space. They put a new water tank in place of the old one on the ridge.

There was a grass fire on the ridge. Judy and John hiking ahead. The last photo is a view of Mt Diablo from the quarry.

John and Judy on the ridge. Mt Diablo from the ridge.

Oaks on the  skyline. I remember all of these views and many of the specific trees. I love it that it has not changed.

Lakewood Circle, Walnut Creek, Ca November 23

I grew up in Walnut Creek. Judy, John and I went over there yesterday. We saw downtown, the park, the Kaiser hospital(the very first Kaiser Hospital in the 1950s. Gerhart was born there), our old neighborhood and house, Indian Valley Elementary school, where Jerry and I went to school and the open space around the area, which was a ranch when we lived there. We played in the ranch hills growing up. Downtown, Kaiser and our old house had changed beyond recognition, but most of the rest looked pretty much the same. These photos will probably bore anyone to death who had never been there. Sorry.

We lived at 465 Lakewood circle. Judy is standing at the end of what was our driveway. There was no gate, no fancy stonework,  and there was a sloping hill with a lemon tree up to the house ., which was much smaller.
More of the front, and up the driveway that used to go to a garage, now is a separate address. 456A. The oak tree in the back is original.

The neighbors houses, the Boeros and the Charonets houses. Pretty much the same. :Maxines nice yard is gone.

Above is the gully across the street we played in. It seems to have shrunk to half the size, and Lakewood road, with out yard on the right.

Daddys cement retaining wall and the end of Lakewood lake.
