The front of the school, essentially unchanged, from above and behind. New play ground and new building in the way back. But the rest the same. And the tree outside the fence on the ranch land. Had cows under it then. Is an open space now. Shell Ridge open space. They put a new water tank in place of the old one on the ridge.
There was a grass fire on the ridge. Judy and John hiking ahead. The last photo is a view of Mt Diablo from the quarry.
John and Judy on the ridge. Mt Diablo from the ridge.
Oaks on the skyline. I remember all of these views and many of the specific trees. I love it that it has not changed.
Decades ago when I was perhaps 12, a friend and I used our feet to push a giant boulder (as big across as we were tall) toward Indian Valley School. We were aghast as the boulder picked up speed bounding along in 10-20 foot jumps toward the school. I really thought we were going to wipe out a classroom; but the boulder hit the chain link fence at the school's perimeter - the fence spun around and around like a rubber band tightening up a propeller in a toy airplane. Its kinetic energy spent, the rock only rolled another few feet and stopped.
