Calistoga Ca, 11/2

Still in Calistoga, still sunny, warm and wonderful. Today we drove to a casino that gave us each $15 free play if we joined their club. We both lost our $15 in credits. Can't win em all. Our next stop was the petrified red wood forest. The trees were amazingly close to what a live redwood looks like. they even had the bark. You had to touch them to see if they were real or not. Of course having some moss, ferns and autumn leaves on them  didn't help. They were big too, 65 feet long and 8 feet in diameter. Finally we went to the Calistogo Inn and soaked in the healing waters. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It was heavenly. I even got a massage.

This is a petrified log in the petrified fireplace.

This is a polished slice of a petrified tree.
You can count the rings.
