November 28-30, 2019 Bullards Beach State Park, Oregon

John spent the day smoking our thanksgiving turkey. It is yummy. I made cranberry sauce from these fresh, local Bandon cranberries. They are twice the size of the cranberries you buy in the supermarket. It was yummy too.

I took a spin on my bike around the park this sunny afternoon. This is the Coquille River that runs by the park. Part of the bike path is in a tree tunnel.

A view of the beach right off the bike path. The last two nights have been below freezing and woke up to frost on everything.

We went on a short hike around the campground. We started at the Bullard s family cemetery. Guess that is why this is Bullards Beach park. Must have once been their land. John on the trail. The ground is covered with green moss.

Green moss, gone by mushroom, lichen and veined lichen and lichen. Lichen, wavy mushroom, frost killed ferns and the trail we were on is the evacuation route if a tsunami comes.

This yard had all these cool wood sculptures. A deer and a football player. Wild turkeys showed up the day after thanksgiving. yellow flowers, distillery in town makes Devil's own rum, Prowler Charters

The marina in Bandon. Abandoned pier on the Bandon.

Western Gull, great blue heron. wooden sea horse on the riverwalk,  boat named Knot-less, and you are here on the globe. Kite store, bigfoot keychains made out of local wood, beaded fish necklace and Cranberry sweets and more, which has lots of candy and you can taste all of it. I got a bottle of cranberry wine there.

Washed ashore is an art gallery of art made from trash that washed up from the ocean to bring peoples awareness to all the trash in the ocean. Really cool art. John with a puffin, fish and anemone, me standing in a rib cage made from plastic bleach bottles, flip flop fish, and a sea turtle on a huge wave of plastic.  Sunset at Coquille Point with everyone else.
Sunset on Coquille point in Bandon.

We went to the night of 10,000 light, Nog Walk and Cider Stroll in Bandon tonight. John and I with Santa. John and the 10,000 lights. I thought the Christmas Parade was tonight too, but it not for 2 weeks.

November 26-27, 2019 Bandon, Oregon

Nasty storm blowing through. Lots of rain, high wind and high surf.

The Coquille lighthouse. It was built in 1896 and was used until 1939 when it was replaced with an automated light on the jetty. A 15 mph tree tunnel on the way out of the park.

Beautiful historic old town Bandon. Grounded seagulls at the bottom of the photo. The wind was too high from them to be trying to fly. The waves were really big.

We walked along the beach for awhile to watch waves. It was way too cold, windy and rainy so we didn't last long.

Waves and rocks. Facerock seen from the view point in the wind and rain. It looks like a woman's face.

After all that cold, rain and wind we had dinner at the Bandon Brewery. John with his IPA. I was in a pine needle ornament exchange again this year. This gorgeous ornament is what my partner sent me. It is red dyed needles with sparkly crystal beads. An adorable angel on the front side and a poinsettia on the back. She also sent me these cute crystal xmas tree earring that match the one on the bottom of the ornament.

These are the two I sent here. They are dyed green needles, a piece of glass I made in the center and lots of sparkly seed and crystal beads.

Twisted rees on the way to the beach. Someone's beach fort.

Cloud reflections. Foam coming for me.

Waves and foam.

Cool looking driftwood tree roots. Rainwater puddles on driftwood.

Mushroom cloud. Kelp wrapped around a driftwood with foam in sunset.

Driftwood in sunset.  Water drops from the rain on the pine needles, pattern in the sand, hike to camp and a newt, it is orange underneath.

November 25, 2019 Bullards State Park, Bandon, Oregon

On our way to Bandon we passed burning slash piles in clear cuts and some fall leaves and moss.

The bus is now camped at Bullards State Park, just north of Bandon, Oregon. Most of the campgrounds are full for the Thanksgiving holiday. Here they have some first come first serve sites and we nabbed one. The hike to the beach is 3/4 of a mile.Through thick foliage to sand dunes.

The clouds reflected on the beach today.

This rainstorm passed by us just off shore. Reflections of the clouds on the water ripples running back to the sea from the waves.

This cool rainbow was north of us. It was on a heavy rainstorm that passed right over us. Lots of wind, so it was like being sandblasted with rain drops. We got soaking wet everywhere but under our raincoats. Right before the rain the light got really cool on the beach.

After the rain there was a double rainbow. Sunset in front of the rain storm.

Sunset behind the rainstorm. My favorite thing, a light in the utility post, right under the bedroom window. You can't turn it off. Before we had black out shades I would put foil over the light bulb.
Red berries, small ferns, a razor clam shell and the no driving on the beach sign. Most of the Oregon beach you can drive on, but not in the park. And a newt.
