The Umpqua river looking east, then west runs through Reedsport. The fish murals are on the dyke that protects the city from flooding when the river rises and a cool looking octopus mural on a building downtown.
We went to Winchester Bay for lunch on the docks. We ate at Crabby Cafe. John's fresh ling cod tacos and my crab rangoons for lunch. It was yummy. John says it was the best fish taco he has ever had. The rangoons were handmade and stuffed with fresh dungeness crab. The marina in Winchester.
We drove to the end of the Umpqua recreation area road. The Umpqua beach. It's a off road vehicle paradise. There are numerous camping spots along the beach and in the dunes. The Oregon dunes are on 40 miles of the coast. Parts are OHV and parts are nature reserves where you can hike.
Umpqua light house and coast guard headquarters. Welcome to Reedsport, the gateway to the dunes. Crab crossing sign at Crabby Cafe, crab traps, a map of sand camping spots in the Umpqua Recreation area. You Crack me up at Crabby's and the triangle in the ocean is at the mouth of the Umpqua river and is an oyster farm.
Lakeside is the community just south of where we are camped. This beautiful beach is on Ten Mile lake at the county park. Ten Mile lake part of the chain of lakes is another huge lake in this area. John cooked steaks and chanterelles for dinner tonight.
